PolyU students awarded Innovation and Technology Scholarship
Congratulations! Three PolyU students, among those from other universities, have been selected as the awardees of the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021 organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. The three awardees from PolyU demonstrated excellence in the highly competitive selection process. They are:
Cheung Yin Chi (Year 3 student in Occupational Therapy) who plans to develop a smart home system for the elderly with the use of ambient assisted technology and artificial intelligence;
Loo Hiu Tung (Year 3 student in Biomedical Engineering) who wants to modify the design of the ankle-foot orthosis for stroke patients, so that they can wear it more easily and comfortably; and
Ng Chit Yui Jeffrey (Year 3 student in Physiotherapy) who intends to incorporate virtual reality and augmented reality technologies into rehabilitation training for the elderly.
Since its establishment in 2011, the Scholarship has been nurturing young talents in the innovation and technology industry. It offers 25 local undergraduates in science, engineering and health disciplines each a scholarship of up to HK$150,000 every year for a series of elite training opportunities through overseas/Mainland attachment programmes, mentorship schemes, local internships and service projects.
